ZAMBIA CONTINUES TO RECORD REDUCTION IN CHOLERA CASES, HEIGHTENS VACATION EFFORT.

Zambia records significant reduction in cholera cases and the improvement has been attributed to the multisectoral response.

Health Minister SYLVIA MASEBO says the capital Lusaka has continued to be a hotspot for the epidemic and that swift action has lowered the cases.

Ms MASEBO has also disclosed that the Main Cholera Treatment Centre-CTC heroes stadium has seen progress in the number of cholera patients getting discharged daily.

Providing the latest update in Chongwe, Ms MASEBO who is also area Member of Parliament says
2-hundred and 46 new cholera cases were recorded in the past 24 hours.

The Minister has also revealed that the country has in the last 24 hours recorded 3 deaths and that 2 were brought in dead from the community and 1 facility death.

Meanwhile, Ms MASEBO says about 1.8 million people have received the cholera vaccine in hotspot areas, bringing the total vaccination coverage to 98.6 per cent.
