President Hakainde Hichilema has pardoned five hundred and eighty- eighty (588) convicted inmates as a gesture of good well to inmates incarcerated in various Correctional Centres across the country.
Among the 588 pardoned inmates five hundred and seventy three( 573) are ordinary inmates, eleven (11)are old aged, one (1) female with a circumstantial child, one (1) Lifer commuted to 35 years and two(2)inmates on death row commuted to life.
During the year 2023, a cumulative total of two thousand nine hundred and forty (2940) inmates have been pardoned by the President.
