Subject: STRAY ELEPHANTS NOTICE
Luangwa – April 24, 2024
Luangwa district has recorded agitating reports of elephants straying from the GMA into residential areas thereby causing panic and, in some cases, destroying property. Therefore, this serves as public notice to all residents, particularly those residing or operating along Mburuma Street near Luangwa Town Council where elephants were recently spotted must take precautionary measures and remain vigilant.
The Department of Parks and Wildlife advises the public to ensure everyone’s safety by following precautions:
Stay Informed: Stay updated on local news regarding elephant movements.
Remain Vigilant: Be cautious, especially outdoors, along Mburuma Street.
Avoid Confrontation: If you encounter an elephant, keep a safe distance and avoid provoking it.
Report Sightings: Immediately report any elephant sightings or unusual behavior to relevant authorities or Luangwa Town Council.
Stay Indoors at Night: Exercise caution during nighttime activities and consider staying indoors whenever possible.
