In-coming KCM boss reassures Brave Nchanga Rangers of more support!

The incoming overall head of Konkola Copper Mines Malcolm Mewett has reiterated Vedanta Resources commitment to sponsoring Nchanga Rangers Football Club and other KCM-sponsored Clubs when Vedanta fully takes over KCM operations.

Mr Mewett, an avid lover of football and ex-rugby player for New Zealand, shared light moments with Nchanga Rangers technical bench, players and ExCo members, who included Club president Shapi Shachinda, Executive Secretary Emmanuel Simbeye and Committee member Prince Tembo.

“Our commitment to supporting football and other sports disciplines is top on Vendetta’s agenda. We have funds that will be channelled directly into the community and football is one area of focus,” Mr Mewett told Nchanga Rangers players and officials at Nchanga stadium on Wednesday afternoon.

Mr Mewett, who also met players and technical bench and ExCo members of Konkola Blades F.C. on Tuesday, said he was hopeful Nchanga Rangers would sustain its current form and win back promotion to the Super Division at the end of the 2023/2024 campaign.

Nchanga Rangers Head Coach Robert Tembo assured Mr Mewett that the team would do its best to secure back its place in the country’s elite football league.

“We promise to do our best and bounce back in the super league, Coach Tembo pledged.

Vice-captain Justin Daka expressed gratitude to Mr Mewett for his gesture and assured him that the team would work hard to win promotion.
