ZAMMSA GIVES FORMER MSL EMPLOYEES LAND.

Lusaka, 2nd April 2024.

The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) has finally resolved and put to rest a 26 years old land stand-off between the Agency and former Medical Stores Limited (MSL) members of staff concerning the ownership of land in Lusaka’s Makeni area.

In a statement, ZAMMSA Senior Public Relations Manager Bradley Chingobe said the ZAMMSA Board of Directors through a resolution have permitted the completion and finalization of the conveyancing process of the land that was sold to employees of its predecessor entity, Medical Stores Limited (MSL).

Mr. Chingobe said in December 1997, the then MSL awarded offer letters to some employees for the purchase of part of the land on subdivision REM67D of Farm 396A in Lusaka’s Makeni area.

He said the matter has dragged for two decades until the current board made a decision during their quarterly meeting held on 19th March 2024.

Meanwhile, Mr. Chingobe stated that the ZAMMSA Board has declined the application to grant former Unionized workers the other part of the land in question.

He said the Board has since resolved to retain the remaining part of the land for the corporation’s use.

Mr. Chingobe said ZAMMSA is happy to have finally closed this issue that has hovered around the Agency for a very long time.

“The Agency thanks all parties involved for exercising patience and tolerance while waiting for closure of the said challenge.”

“ZAMMSA is committed to amicably resolving all human resource issues for both the present and previous employees as it seeks to be a world-class supply chain of essential medicines & medical supplies for a healthy and productive nation.” Mr. Chingobe said.
