Lusaka Mayor, Ms. Chilando Chitangala, today donated assorted food items to Home of Love in Chawama and Child Care Association of Zambia in Chilenje.
Speaking when she presented the donations, the Mayor commended the orphanage representatives on the good work they are doing.
She expressed her passion for helping the vulnerable and emphasized that her office is always open to support them.
She encouraged the orphanages to work closely with their Area Councillors and her office, stating that presenting these donations is a way of giving back to society.
The City Mother called on stakeholders to come on board and support orphanages in terms of food, sponsorship of school, and adoption, not only in the visited wards but in Lusaka as a whole.
The items donated include: 8 bags of 25kg mealie meal, 8 bags of 10kg mealie meal, 8 boxes of milk, 5 sacks of 10kg sugar, 8 bags of Soya pieces, 4 containers of 5litres cooking oil, 2 packs of 10kg salt, 8 boxes of Hygenix bathing soap and Some Liquid Chlorine.
Receiving the donation, Mr. Martin Chikulo from Home of Love and Mrs. Rosina Kapilikisha from Child Care Association of Zambia hailed the Mayor for her kind gesture.
They acknowledged that the donations made to the orphanages would go a long way in their management and is also a way to show love and affection for the children.
Present for the donations were Councillor Ponsilio Phiri, Councillor Karma Jawara, and Councillor Reuben Mwenya.
