INVESTING IN WOMEN A HUMAN RIGHTS IMPERATIVE FOR BUILDING AN INCLUSIVE SOCIETY.

INVESTING in women and girls is a human rights imperative and a cornerstone for building inclusive societies and communities.

The theme for this year’s International Women’s Day: “Investing in women and girls: accelerate progress” would not have been most appropriate at a time that countries including Zambia have not prioritised investment in women and gender equality initiatives.

We call upon those in leadership to invest in women and girls for sustainable development.

As a party, we would like to encourage women from across the country to participate in this year’s commemorations that are being held across the country.

Without doubt women’s economic empowerment increases economic diversification and income equality for shared prosperity, especially for developing countries like Zambia.

The pull her down (PHD) syndrome must not be condoned in a Zambian society because progress for women benefits us all.

Women! It is our day and we therefore encourage you all to unite and celebrate this day in peace. Let’s show the men that women are peaceful, no woman should get involved in violence.

And as we celebrate let us remember that this is the day we globally commemorate for the social, economic, cultural, and political achievements of women in all aspects of life.

International Women’s Day marks a call to action for accelerating gender parity.

We have an opportunity to show the world our worthy, and also a good time to openly discuss the challenges that we face as women in terms of ascending to decision making positions.

I repeat, on this important day, we expect no violence, women must turn up in numbers and enjoy their day without any interference from anyone. And i urge men to support us on this day.

I encourage all women across the country to get ready for this day.

All Patriotic Front (PF) women country wide are encouraged to participate with joy. I wish you good luck as you endouvor to participate on this important national event.

More love to every Zambian woman out there.

Kavumbu H. Hakachima

Deputy national chair Lady for women.
