CMC confiscates street vending items donates to Kakoso First Level Hospital Cholera Centre.

Chililabombwe Municipal Council following a court order has donated assorted items worth K3500 confiscated from street vendors at Kasumbalesa border to Kakoso first level Hospital.

The Local Authority under the department of Public Health yesterday on 9th January 2023 swung into action and confiscated Eggs, Buckets, Plastic slippers, Charcoal, Tomatoes and Vegetables among others that were being sold in an undesignated spaces.

CMC following a directive from the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development will ensure that there is enhanced enforcement ans all vendors operate in designated spaces to prevent the spread of Cholera and diarrheal diseases.

The Council wishes to inform all vendors to trade within legalised spaces to avoid the risk of contracting Cholera and confiscation of items.

Currently the District is enforcing measures to contain and mitigate the spread of rhe diarrheal disease.

The Local Authority is hereby calling on every resident to practice good hygiene within and outsise surroundings and to follow safety measures such as frequentlt washing of hands to combat cholera.

The Council in unizon with stakeholders will continue to undertake various activities to sensitize the community on measures to fight and prevent Cholera outbreak in the district.
