CHILANGA CEMENT CONTRIBUTES K840,000 TO PREPARATIONS FOR WORLD SKILLS AFRICA COMPETITION

Chilanga Cement has made a contribution of K840,000 towards preparations for the hosting of the World Skills Africa Competition to be held in Livingstone in April 2025.

The amount translates to 14,000 bags of cement which will be used in the construction of the Competition Venue at the Livingstone Institute of Business and Engineering Studies (LIBES).

The Ministry of Technology and Science has contracted the Zambia National Service who are constructing the Competition Venue at LIBES.

Speaking this morning when he handed over a dummy cheque for the K840,000 contribution, Chilanga Cement Chief Executive Officer Jianping Chai said the company is committed to ploughing back in the community where it operates.

Mr. Chai said as a proud corporate citizen, Chilanga Cement is offering discounted rates for cement to be used for the construction of the competition venue.

He said Chilanga Cement is fully in support of the World Skills Africa Competition which will bring over 1,500 participants from across Africa to Livingstone next year.

And Technology and Science Minister Hon. Felix Mutati said the support that Chilanga Cement has provided to government will help in successfully preparing for the World Skills Africa Competition.

Mr. Mutati said Chilanga Cement has shown that the private sector can partner with government to support the sharpening of skills among youths.

He called on other corporate entities to emulate Chilanga Cement and come on board to support World Skills Zambia as it prepares for the event.

Mr. Mutati disclosed that 50 African countries have so far confirmed participation in the competition.
