A 17-year-old boy of Shibuyunji District has been arrested for defiling a 6-year-old girl.
In a statement today, Police deputy public relations officer Danny Mwale said the boy and the girl go to the same school within Shibuyunji District.
He said the boy is in Grade eight while the child is in Grade two.
And Mr. Mwale said Victim Support Unit officers who are investigating the matter revealed that on March 20, 2024 at unknown time but during school break time, the suspect found the girl playing alone outside one of the class rooms and told her to follow him.
Mr. Mwale said the defiler led her to the nearby bush where he was found having canal knowledge of her by a passer-by who apprehended him and reported the incident to the school authorities.
Mr. Mwale said the victim and the suspect were handed over to Police were both guardians appeared.
The Deputy Police Public relations officer added that a medical report form was issued to the victim’s parents to help her seek medical attention while the suspect was released pending further action.
