Lusaka, 25th March 2024.
The Zambia Medicines and Medical Supplies Agency (ZAMMSA) has received the fourth consignment of 7,050 Health Centre Kits (HCK) which gives us a cumulative total of 28,200 kits received since August 2023.
In a statement today, ZAMMSA Senior Public relations Manager Bradley Chingobe said this fourth batch of health Centre kits is the second consignment we have received in the last two months.
He said it’s important to note that we received the last consignment on the 2nd of January 2024 from mission Pharma of Denmark.
“As a result of this consistent supply and effective distribution of these Health Center Kits, the country has seen the availability of essential medicines and medical supplies (EMMS) at primary healthcare facilities increase to above 75%. The World Health Organisation (WHO) drug availability standard is recommended at 70%.” Mr. Chingobe said.
Mr. Chingobe added that notably ZAMMSA services more than 3,400 healthcare facilities across the country and we, as usual, will ensure that all of these receive the kits in a timely manner.
Mr. Chingobe said the appropriate distribution of the kits will commence as soon as the Certificate of Analysis clearance is granted by the Zambia Medicines Regulatory Authority (ZAMRA).
He said this will ensure that we are kept abreast with the established pharmacovigilance practices at ZAMMSA.
And Mr. Chingobe said ZAMMSA remains committed to continue procuring, storing, and distributing medicines and medical supplies for a healthy and productive Zambia.
