THE 22 year-old woman who went viral last August after it was reported that she killed her two year old son at a lodge has been jailed for 30 months.
Musowe Maeke, who was initially charge with murder, was recently sent to a correctional facility after a Judge found her guilty of the reduced offence of manslaughter.
High Court Judge Lastone Mwanabo meted out the simple imprisonment punishment on Maeke after she admitted the charge.
At the time of her arrest last year, police said the women came from the Copperbelt to Lusaka to stay at the place of her older sister, Mokwane Maeke of Kamwala South.
But during the stay, Mokwane differed with Musowe after the convict spent a night out the previous say.
Mokwane gave K400 transport to Musowe and asked her to travel back to Kitwe at live with her mother.
But instead of traveling, the convict used the money to book a room at a named lodge where she stayed for three days.
It was there that the child was reportedly suffocated to death using a pillow.
Musowe is reported to have told her older sister that she committed the act because she had nothing to feed her child and herself.
