Opposition EFF leader on the run after staging a protest yesterday in Lusaka.

Zambia Police Service have launched a manhunt for Economic Freedom Fighters -EFF- leader Dr. Joseph Mwenda Kasonde who escaped police dragnet yesterday.
Deputy Police Spokesperson Danny Mwale confirmed this morning that the police are looking for him after he ran away immediately he reached the Police Station.
Mr. Mwale has since advised members of the public who may know his way about to ask him to present himself to Police henceforth.
Yesterday, twenty-three people arrested for the offence of Unlawful Assembly, among them were two Journalists identified as, a 27 year old Namo Phiri from privately owned Daily Nation Newspapers and Abel Musonda from Millennium TV under the same ownership.
However, the reporters were released on the same day immediately after thorough screening as they had no identification cards or press jackets during the arrest.
According to the police, brief facts are that the EFF leader identified as Mwenda Kasonde on March 3, 2023 notified the Police about a peaceful demonstration his Political Party intended to hold on March 10, 2023.
And in order not to disturb the peace of other members of the public, the leader was called by Police and advised to indicate the route they were to use (from Civic Center to Boma Court) and total number of the marchers but failed to respond to Police request until on March 10, 2023 around 14:00 hours when Police were informed that a group of people had gathered at Civic Center.
That prompted the officers moved in and apprehended the 23 suspects and charged them with the offence of Unlawful Assembly and they will appear in court soon.
