MAMBWE TOWN COUNCIL COMMENCES THE CONSTRUCTION OF A MATERNITY ANNEX AT NYAKATOKOLI RURAL HEALTH POST.

Mambwe Town Council has started the construction of the first ever maternity annex at Nyakatokoli Rural Health Post, in Nyakatokoli ward.

 

The construction project is one of the presidential directives which the local authority is actualizing.

 

The project is being implemented under the Constituency Development Fund CDF allocation for the year 2023.

 

The project which started in January this Year is currently at slab level and works are on going.

 

Speaking during the CDF project monitoring Mambwe Town Council Director of Works Engineer Niza Ndawa expressed satisfaction towards the works that have so far been done.

 

Eng. Ndawa says the project is being implemented by a local contractor.

 

He has further advise the contractor to expedite the works .

Mambwe Town Council CDF Committee Chairperson Isaac Sakala who was also part of the monitoring team says the project will greatly benefit the expectant women in the area, as he expresses gratitude to government for funding the constructing of a maternity annex as per presidential directive.

Mr Sakala says for the first time in history adding that non of the previous governments where able to consider putting up such an important structure at health post.

 

He further stated that as a CDF Committee Chairperson he is happy that the project has finally started.

Meanwhile the women in Nyakatokoli ward, feel the project is an answered prayer , as one of the community based volunteer Nellia Phiri explains some of the challenges expectant women are currently facing due to lack of a maternity annex.

 

She says the project will help in ensuring women access maternal health care at the clinic with less challenges.
