HON. NZOVU APPEALS TO JAPAN FOR TECH TO COMBAT CLIMATE CHANGE, BUILD RESILIENT INFRASTRUCTURE.

 

Lusaka, Thursday, 25th January, 2024 – Minister of Green Economy and Environment Hon. Eng. Collins Nzovu, MP, has appealed to the Government of Japan to assist Zambia with technology to combat the negative effects of climate change on Zambians.

The Minister was speaking when Japanese Ambassador to Zambia His Excellency Mr. Takeuchi Kazuyuki paid a courtesy call on him at the Ministry of Green Economy and Environment.

The two discussed various developmental issues affecting both countries with His Excellency Ambassador Kazuyuki pledging his Government’s support to combat the negative effects of climate change through technical support.

Hon. Nzovu called on the Japanese Government to help Zambia with technology advancement that can be employed to fight climate change.

The Honourable Minister noted that climate change has greatly affected infrastructure development in the country and emphasized the need to build climate resilient infrastructure to reduce the negative effects of climate change.

Hon. Nzovu also called for investment in the tourism, agriculture, forestry and energy sectors if the country is to record meaningful economic development.
