Zambia’s Ambassador to Italy and accredited to Croatia on a Non-Residential basis, Mrs. Patricia Chisanga Kondolo, presented her Letters of Credence, to His Excellency, Mr. Zoran Milanovic, President of the Republic of Croatia, during which she conveyed warm greetings from President Hakainde Hichilema to His Croatian counterpart and the Government and people of Croatia. The Ambassador reaffirmed Zambia’s commitment to maintaining and strengthening relations with Croatia.
After officially presenting her Letters of Credence, Amb. Kondolo reiterated the good relations that exist between Zambia and Croatia, and underscored the need to enhance collaboration between the two countries especially in the area of economic cooperation which had been identified by the Government of the Republic of Zambia, as key to realizing the countryโs development agenda and thereby improving the livelihood of its people.
The Ambassadors highlighted the current challenges Zambia was experiencing as a result of climate change which had contributed to the drought the country was facing leading to food and energy insecurity and indicated in that regard Governmentโs resolve to investing in renewable energy, agri-business, processing, tourism, manufacturing and other economic sectors.
In this regard, she indicated Government’s readiness to partnering with both the Government of Croatia, as well as the private sector in the areas highlighted.
Ambassador Kondolo noted the joint membership to the United Nations, under which collaboration can be enhanced, especially support on various issues such as climate change, the Sustainble Development Goals (SDGs) and the support for each otherโs candidatures to various positions in the UN system.
During the occasion, Mr. Neven Pelicaric, Adviser to the President of the Republic of Croatia for Foreign and European Policy, stated that the Government of the Republic of Croatia had an open policy on collaboration, hence encouraged Ambassador Kondolo to explore key areas of cooperation in the various sectors of the Croatian economy.
He also praised the Republic of Zambia for the unity it continues to exhibit in cultural diversity which was important in enhancing understanding between peoples.
