Chasefu District Commissioner Jimmy Phiri has urged the police in Chasefu District against misuse of their newly procured CDF Toyota Land Cruiser at the expense of service to the local people.
The District Commissioner says the police vehicle is meant to avert crime in the district as opposed to serving police officers during their personal programs.
Mr. Phiri says the CDF police vehicle seeks to respond ensure law and order is maintained in Chasefu District thereby protecting communities from negative effects of crime.
He said this during the official handover of the CDF police motor vehicle to the police command in Chasefu District on Tuesday afternoon.
The District Commissioner is concerned with increased criminal cases in Chasefu which he feels will now be mitigated with an easy mobility of officers in the presence of a new motor vehicle.
And speaking at the same event, Chasefu Town Council Chairperson Chimwemwe Banda has recounted the challenge that police officers in Chasefu District have faced in averting crime due lack of transport.
Ms. Banda has since implored officers to ensure that local people understand the significance of understanding the law so that harmony is preserved in the District.
She has since assured the police command that the local Authority will ensure that land is secured for the construction of a police station in order for the district to stand on its own in terms of security.
The police vehicle is one of the recently procured police vehicles by government for all the 156 constituencies in the country under the 2023 constituency development fund CDF allocation.
