Nampak Zambia Managing Director Shawn duplessis has called on Government to ensure that as they treat Cholera symptoms they should also address the root causes of the outbreak.
Speaking when he presented a cheque of one hundred and ninety six thousand five hundred kwacha to lusaka city council, duplessis notes that the continued unsanitary conditions in many areas of the city need to be addressed by government and the private sector.
He observed that Government has acted quickly to address the outbreak and implemented many measures including statutory instrument No 5 of 2024.
Duplessis however noted that the measures put will only be effective if correctly implemented.
The Nampak Managing director has therefore urged government to reinforce statutory instrument 23 and 72 of 2012 that restricts the sell and distribution of opaque beer as it leads to enormous health risks and aids in the spread of diseases such as cholera.
And Lusaka Mayor Chilando Chitangala said lack of fuel is one of the challenges that the Local authority was facing in clumping down unsanitary places in City .
Chitangala since stated that the donation will enable the council deal with the challenges of that they are facing in dealing with the unsanitary conditions in town.
This is exactly what I was looking for. Thanks for the useful information.
