LCC ANTI-VENDING OPERATION NETS 4 VENDORS, CONFISCATES GOODS

 

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has continued its anti-vending operations in the Central Business District (CBD).

In a statement today, Lusaka City Council Public Relations Manager Chola Mwamba said the Local Authority through council police, conducted an operation resulting in the severe warning of vendors and the confiscating of both perishable and non-perishable goods.

She revealed that during the operation, the council in adherence to the law apprehended four (4) vendors and confiscated goods from various vendors who were trading in undesignated areas.

Ms. Mwamba added that the confiscated items included bananas, fritters, sausages, groundnuts, wild fruits, coconuts, apples, eggs and freezits.

She said in accordance with the provisions of Section 355, Cap 88 of the Laws of Zambia, perishable goods were disposed of by the fast-track court, while non-perishable goods remain in LCC custody and will be held for a period of 21 days from the date of confiscation, pending further instructions.

And the LCC Public Relations Manager reminded all vendors that trading in undesignated places is against the law.

She also encouraged vendors to operate within designated trading areas to avoid disruptions.
