GOVERNMENT TO PARTNER WITH MELISA MILLING IN ITEZHI-TEZHI DISTRICT

Itezhi-tezhi Member of Parliament Twaambo Mutinta announced that the government will partner with Melisa Milling in Itezhi-tezhi District following his continued engagement with the Zambia National Service.

Mr Mutinta stated that on Saturday, a team of officers from the Zambia National Service, accompanied by the District Commissioner and Council Chairman, visited Itezhi-tezhi District.

He said they conducted an inspection of Melisa Milling Company for a possible partnership with the government to enable local maize milling.

The Lawmaker said the initiative aims to stabilize the mealie meal shortages experienced by the district due to the distance from suppliers.

He mentioned that once all processes are concluded, the Food Reserve Agency will be asked to supply grain to the Melisa/ZNS milling.

He said Melisa, with the capacity to produce 600 bags per day, will sell the mealie meal at the government price to the people and surrounding wards in the district.

The Lawmaker emphasized his commitment to finding solutions to the ongoing drought situation and assured that the government will do everything possible to mitigate the drought disaster.
