Government should desist from intimidating Church leaders using the police-kalaba

Citizens First-CF-President Harry Kalaba says the government through the Zambia Police should desist from intimidating Church leaders who are merely speaking on behalf of the vulnerable people in society.

Mr Kalaba’s remarks come after police in Ndola summoned a Catholic Priest Fr Chewe Mukosa for questioning for preaching against load shedding and high cost of living when he delivered his Good Friday message.

However Mr Kalaba is of the view that it is the highest time government realized that church leaders have always been the voice of the voiceless.

Speaking when he was interviewed live on Radio Chimwemwe yesterday, Mr Kalaba stated that like any other person in society, church leaders are equally entitled to their opinions and their opinions must highly be respected.

He has however implored the church not to relent from speaking on behalf of the Zambian people who are going through hardships due to lack of leadership by the current Government.

And Mr Kalaba has challenged the UPND government led by President Hakainde Hichilema to address serious issues affecting the people such as the high cost of living, skyrocketing prices of essential commodities, high cost of doing business, high unemployment levels among the youths, load shedding, to mention but a few.
