Government rolls out the Coordinated Border Management (CBM) system.

The Ministry of Commerce, Trade and Industry is actively rolling out the Coordinated Border Management (CBM) system, with a key focus on enhancing trade facilitation through a strategic reduction of border agencies at posts to just six (6).

The recent signing of Memoranda of Understanding (MOUs) between border agencies in Lusaka laid the foundation for this initiative.

As part of the mission, which also involved sensitization of relevant stakeholders, Mrs. Margaret Chikuba, Director Domestic Trade, led a delegation to tour the Kazungula One Stop Border Post (OSBP) and assess progress made by border agencies.

Emphasizing with great importance the need for effective implementation, Director Chikuba urged agencies to communicate any challenges faced.

The CBM Concept is currently being piloted at Kazungula and Chirundu OSBPs before extending to other border posts, all underscored by the Director’s strong commitment to making the system work for enhanced trade facilitation.
