Ming’omba Mine of Kobold Metals in Chililabombwe District is constructing a Secondary School in Kawama Ward of Chililabombwe. A Secondary School which will provide four (04) Spacious Classrooms,Strong, Staff and Printing Rooms, ablution block and Offices for the Deputy and Headteachers as well as fully stock it with Office Furniture and Desks for all the Classrooms.
The Construction of a Secondary School in Kawama comes as a Commitment of Corporate and Social Responsibility (CSR) as well as a Community engagement by Kobold Metals through fostering Community Relations as it’s Stakeholders in Mining.
His Worship the Mayor Mr Lucky Sichone yesterday 7th May,2024 accompanied by the Town Clerk Mrs Shilla Songolo, Director of Development Planning Mr Marlon Chisala, Mr Aubrey Musonda from Kobold Metals who is a Senior Community Liaisons Officer under Community Relations and Officers from the District Education Board, conducted a site visit in Kawama where he was received by the Area Councillor Ms Getrude Witola who is also Her Honour the Deputy Mayor.
And speaking during the Site visit, the Mayor expressed joy and gratitude to Ming’omba Mine, saying “we are very excited that Ming’omba Mine is already ploughing back to the Community inspite of the fact that the mine is yet to commence actual mining activities as currently it is doing exploration works” the Mayor said.
The Town Clerk Mrs Shilla Songolo switly informed the Mayor that Ming’omba Mine expressed keen interest in the District’s Integrated Development Plan (IDP) as they (Ming’omba) had asked for the IDP document before they could pick on any Strategic Development Project, so as to align themselves with Government’s agenda for National Development Plan (NDP).
Meanwhile Mrs Mwaba the Headteacher for Kawama primary school echoed words of encouragement and Thanks giving to President Hakainde Hichilema for his continued commitment in marketing Zambia and wooing Investor’s such as Ming’omba Mine that is responding to the urgent needs of the people through CSR. Mrs Mwaba Said the current Kawama primary school has over One Thousand Seven Hundred (1,700) learners who share limited classroom spaces.
The Construction of the School is being done by KOKEB Contractor whose works started six (06) weeks ago and is expected to complete and hand over by latest last week of June 2024.
