CHIKANKATA – Wednesday, 20th December, 2023
A total of Three Million, Fifty-Two Thousand, Seven Hundred and Ninety Kwacha has officially been handed over to 47 successful applicants of the 2023 Constituency Development Fund Empowerment Loans in Chikankata District.
And a total of Two Million, Fifty Thousand, Nine Hundred and Twenty Kwacha has also been handed over to 52 successful applicants of the 2023 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) Empowerment grants.
Officiating during the handover held at the Civic Centre on Tuesday, Chikankata Member of Parliament, Honorable Jacqueline Sabao says the empowerment funds signifies not only financial assistance to the people of Chikankata but also is an investment in the dreams and aspirations in Chikankata as an enterprising Constituency.
Hon. Sabao has since acknowledged President Hakainde Hichilema’s commitment and leadership in ensuring that communities develop in a sustainable approach.
And Chikankata Council Chairperson, Mr. Conard Ngoma has appealed to the beneficiaries of the CDF funds to help realize President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision by ensuring that they put the empowerment funds to its intended use, which is to help improve the welfare of communities and not selfish individuals.
The sentiments of the Council Chairperson were also echoed by the District Commissioner, Mr. Timothy Chipolyonga who cautioned that government will not take lightly any abuse of the empowerment funds.
Meanwhile, Chikankata Constituency Development Fund Committee (CDFC) Chairperson, Mr. Edwin Kasamu has appealed to the beneficiaries never to disappoint government by being mischievous with the seed money they have been empowered with.
And speaking earlier, Chikankata Town Council Secretary, Mr. Brian Mazuba has cautioned the beneficiaries to be responsible and sensitive with the empowerment funds received, which is aimed at alleviating poverty in the various communities.
In delivering their votes of thanks, beneficiaries Clare Kamwale and Nelson Shampe have encouraged their fellow beneficiaries not to misuse the empowerment funds given to them but to help meet President Hakainde Hichilema’s vision of making every Zambian have their livelihood empowered.
