MWANDI- Ms. Sibeso Kakoma Sefulo, the Member of Parliament for Mwandi Constituency, visited Lutawa and Kayumbuana to evaluate the ongoing challenges and progress driven by the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

The New Dawn government, under her leadership, has remained steadfast in its commitment to improving educational infrastructure and accessibility in these communities.

During her visit, Ms. Sefulo officially opened a new 1×3 classroom block at Lutawa Primary School. This expansion is part of a broader plan to eventually offer secondary education up to grade twelve, addressing the increasing demand for secondary schools in the area.

Ms. Sefulo expressed her gratitude to President Hakainde Hichilema for the increased CDF allocation, which has been instrumental in achieving these milestones.

However, despite these advancements, Lutawa faces challenges. The absence of a functional network tower has severely impacted communication and hindered the use of the newly established computer lab at Lutawa Primary School, which is vital for e-learning.

Ms. Sefulo pledged to collaborate with Infratel to ensure the network tower becomes operational, emphasizing the critical role of connectivity in both education and business.

In Kayumbuana, Ms. Sefulo inaugurated another 1×3 classroom block, marking the first permanent infrastructure in the area since Zambia’s independence. This new facility is expected to significantly reduce the distance residents need to travel to access essential services such as social cash transfers and drought emergency funds, which were previously only available in distant locations like Namuzingu. Ms. Sefulo highlighted this development as a testament to the government’s commitment to bringing vital resources closer to the people.

Despite these positive developments, the constituency continues to grapple with challenges related to water and road networks. Ms. Sefulo reaffirmed the government’s dedication to addressing these issues, particularly focusing on the road from Simongoma to Luampa, which is crucial for the economic growth of the province.

The community remains hopeful that with sustained government support, these challenges will be resolved, further enhancing the quality of life and educational opportunities in the region.
