Government through the Ministry of Agriculture is working round the clock to ensure that farmers have access to farming inputs before the onset of the rains for 2024/2025 farming season.
In a statement this morning, Ministry of Agriculture Permanent Secretary -Technical Services Mr. John Mulongoti called on all eligible beneficiary farmers under the farmer input support programme (FISP) who have received their Authority to Deposit (ATD) through text messages on their mobile phones to deposit their k400.00 farmer contributions as soon as possible.
He said beneficiary farmers who have not yet received their ATDs are encouraged to verify their National Registration Card (NRC) details including their phone numbers with the Ministry of Agriculture staff at District Agricultural Coordinator (DACO) ‘s office.
And Mr. Mulongoti appealed to all farmers to urgently deposit their contributions by 31st October, 2024 in order to avoid unnecessary delays in the implementation of the programme, and to ensure that they have access to farming inputs in good time.
The Permanent Secretary has since instructed Provincial and District Agricultural Coordinators to constantly engage with farmers to keep them updated on processes and procedures expected of them in order to ensure successful implementation of the programme.
He said Government through the Ministry of Agriculture will continue providing regular updates on the farmer input support programme.
