Police in Nyimba, Eastern province, are investigating a murder case in which a Clinical officer was shot dead by unknown people.
According to Police Deputy Public relations officer Danny Mwale, Amos Chanda, 36, a Clinical officer at Nyimba District Urban Clinic, was shot at by unknown assailants while seated in his living room where he was watching Television with his family.
Mr. Mwale said the suspects disappeared after shooting the victim twice in the head.
Mr. Mwale indicated that Police officers who rushed to the scene found the victim seated in the sofa in the living room of his house with blood oozing from the fatal gunshot wounds he sustained.
Mr. Mwale said the victim was immediately moved to Nyimba District Hospital where he was declared deceased upon arrival.
The Deputy Police Public relations officer stated that Police initial crime scene investigations indicate that the assailants shot the victim from outside through the window which had its glass pane broken.
Mr. Mwale said the incident happened on March 29, 2024 around 21:00 hours at Nyimba District Urban Clinic Compound.
He said the body is in the same Hospital mortuary pending for postmortem examination.
Mr. Mwale said the motive behind the killing is not yet established as investigations to find the suspects have been launched.
