AIRTEL ZAMBIA LAUNCHES FIRST EVER E-SIM

Zambia Information Communication Technology Authority -ZICTA- has urged the network providers to scale up technology innovation and integration to further increase the country’s potential to unlock” innovation-and-technology-driven-development.
Speaking during the launch of the E-sim by Airtel Zambia in Lusaka this morning, ZICTA Economic Regulation & Consumer Protection Director Bernard Banda said the E-SIM will also open doors to various entrepreneurial opportunities especially for the youths in the country.
Banda says technology innovation and integration have been very instrumental in today’s digital era when the world is faced with a lot of challenges such as the Covid 19 pandemic which plays a major role in facilitating continuity of livelihoods especially in areas of education, health as well as product and service delivery.
He says there is need to ensure that the ICT sector continues to spur a digital revolution for the economic development of Zambia.
Mr. Banda has since commended Airtel Networks Zambia Plc for this bold move in being a leader at the introduction and launch of the first ever E-SIM in the country which will in essence function as an online extension of one’s regular sim card.
Mr. Banda spoke on behalf of ZICTA Director general Eng. Choolwe Nalubamba.
Speaking at the same event, Airtel Network Zambia managing Director Manu Sood says the advantage of the E-Sim is that it can not be damaged, lost and it can be procured from any other country from their online platform.

Last week Airtel zambia launched HD-video calling and to register on E-Sim, one has to dia *#06# then follow the procedure then visit any Airtel store in Lusaka,Ndola, Kitwe and Chipata for any assistance.
