….praises ChildFund, Ackermanns for expanding education infrastructure..
Chibombo, Wednesday (January 17, 2024)
Government says President Hakainde Hichilema is aggressively actualizing the Education For All agenda to build a brighter future for children.
Central Province Education Officer – PEO Mambe Hamududu says the Free Education Policy has resulted in increased congestion in classes but the matter is being addressed through building more classroom blocks and the recruitment of more teachers.
Ms Hamududu has since paid tribute to ChildFund and the Transearch Foundation led by Ulrich Ackermann and his wife of Germany for their role in building additional classrooms in Chibombo District, Central Province.
Ms Hamududu said this when ChildFund handed over to Government another 1 by 2 classroom block at Katete Primary School in Mungule District, built by the Ackermanns .
She said Katete Primary School must now improve examination result ratings because the environment is conducive adding that more teachers will soon be deployed to the school.
Meanwhile, Transearch Foundation Chairman Ulrich Ackermann called for strengthened collaboration to improve the welfare of children.
At the same function, ChildFund Zambia Country Director Simba Machingaidze said parents must do their part by creating a conducive environment for children to thrive, aligning with the Free Education Policy.
Mr. Machingaidze emphasized that reporting individuals who supply drugs to jeopardize children’s futures require no financial commitment from parents
Mr. Machingaize paid tribute to the Ackermanns for the immense contribution to Zambia’s education sector, citing their earlier project, Namununga School which includes classrooms blocks, teachers houses, a, health center with staff houses, a pre-school , a hammer mill, tuckshop, running water and solar energy.
This is contained in a statement issued by ChildFund Zambia Communications Specialist Priscilla Chama-Mpengula.
