The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has officially handed over the newly built Luckson Mapushi Police Post in Kamwala South, Kabwata Constituency to the community.

The police post was constructed at a total cost of K860,000 using the 2023 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocation.

At the same event, a cheque amounting to K3,800,000 was disbursed to 50 groups as empowerment loans under the 2024 CDF allocation.

Lusaka Province Deputy Permanent Secretary, Alex Chipo Mapushi, officiated at the handover ceremony and stated that the construction of the police post demonstrates the government’s commitment to providing peace, law and security.

Mr. Mapushi reiterated that the government remains committed to ensuring safety is maintained in the city.

He commended the government, through the Kabwata area Member of Parliament, Hon. Andrew Tayengwa and his team for working tirelessly to ensure CDF developmental programmes improve and develop collectively.

Mr. Mapushi indicated that from the many police posts being constructed, the government is working towards developing them into police stations.

He also encouraged the loan recipients to use the funds prudently to improve their livelihoods.

Kabwata CDF Chairperson Chilekwa Munkonge, highlighted that the Luckson Mapushi Police Post being the third to be handed over in the constituency is an indication of many to come.

Mr Munkonge added that as the top-led constituency in fostering and implementing CDF developmental projects, Kabwata will not relent but remain focused to ensure the country achieves its common goal of development.

And the Police command has applauded the government for the project, saying it will help curb criminal activities in the constituency.

Present at the handover ceremony were the area councillor, Mr Simataa Mainda and councillor Chishala Bwalya.
