Zambia beat Congo Brazzaville in world cup qualifier.

Zambia secured a 4-2 victory against Congo Brazzaville in the opening match of the 2026 FIFA World Cup Group E qualifiers.

Patson Daka played a pivotal role in the triumph scoring two goals. His first came in the 5th minute with a header, but Congo quickly responded in the 13th minute, taking a 2-1 lead within 1 minute.

Lameck Banda restored parity for Zambia just three minutes before halftime, scoring with a close-range shot.

The teams entered halftime level, prompting Congo to make a substitution at the start of the second half, introducing Bradley Mazikou for Morgan Poaty.

In the 69th minute, Fashion Sakala gave zambia the lead and Patson Daka sealed the victory with his second goal in the 92nd minute.

As a result, Zambia leads Group E with three points and a plus-two goal difference, while Congo Brazzaville falls to the bottom position. Tanzania and Niger are yet to play.
