PRESS STATEMENT
11TH December 2023
WE THANK ZAMBIANS FOR YOUR SUPPORT ON KCM AND MOPANI COPPER MINES
As the Party’s committee in charge of the mines, we sincerely thank our Party and Republican President HH for fixing the issues that surrounded both KCM and Mopani Copper Mines.
President HH has once more demonstrated that he is committed to fulfill all campaign promises by fixing both KCM and Mopani Copper mines.
We also thank you Zambians for your support and ignoring noise makers.
To us this has not come as a surprise we knew it was just a matter of time before the two mines could come back life again.
We also extend our appreciation to the people of the Copper belt for remaining patient while the issue of the two mines was being handled.
We thank Miners for ignoring noise makers. It was not easy, especially that the issue of the two mines was heavily politicized by people who brought misery to the people of the Copper belt and Zambians at large.
The residents of the Copper belt once again will see economic activities that will improve their quality of life.
We are aware that the noise makers are not happy with achievements of the New Dawn Government so far. This is because they won’t make any more noise on KCM and Mopani. Surely, President HH needs support of all Zambians in order to turn around the economy of this Country.
What the past regime did to the mines should not be repeated ever again.
To our colleagues in the Labour movement, we thank you for standing with us during the period of negotiations.
We further implore you to remain focused and bargain for better conditions of service for your members and when we say conditions of service we don’t just mean the salary, Promote good Industrial Relations in the Mining Industry.
It’s unfortunate that we still have some investors who treat Miners as mare tools of productions. We believe that a motivated labour force is an asset to the Company.
Our Mine Safety Department (MSD) under the Ministry of Mines should be visible throughout the Mining Industry to promote safe mining. Prevent accidents and not writing good reports after an accident. Be proactive.
