Kawambwa Town Council Secretary Andrew Bwali has urged youths in the district to utilize the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) skills bursaries that government has made available to them and contribute to the Socio-economic growth in their Constituencies and the country at large.
He says skills development plays a pivotal role in personal development, as it helps one to maximize their potential in various aspects of life.
The Council Secretary was speaking during the send off of over 30 students from Kawambwa Central and Pambashe Constituencies at the Civic centre before departure to pursue various courses at the Technical and Vocational Teachers College of Luanshya on the Copperbelt Province.
Mr. Bwali stated that with the acquisition of various skills, the youths were going to improve their livelihoods in their communities adding that governments aim of sponsoring them was to enhance capacity and make them self employed and employ others.
Mr. Bwali revealed that the district was proud to send over 600 youths to various colleges, as it was the only way to empower them and make them independent and sustain their lives.
The Council Secretary urged the students to remain focused, steadfast and ethical as they pursued their studies as they were brand ambassadors of the district.
He further urged other youths to emulate them by utilizing the opportunity that government had availed to them through CDF and get the education that would change their livelihoods.
The students are among the over 600 students that government will sponsor in 2024 from Kawambwa district to pursue their studies at various learning institutions across the country.
The students will pursue various courses among them;
Electrical and electronics
ICT Diploma
Bricklaying
Computer applications
General hospitality
Metal fabrication
Food and beverage
Fashion designing and textiles among others.
The duration of the courses is between 3 months and 3 years.
