His Excellency, Mr Paulu Kosita Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Zambia presented his Credentials to His Excellency Mr. Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

Kinshasa, Friday 5th August , 2022 – His Excellency, Mr Paulu Kosita Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Zambia presented his Credentials to His Excellency Mr. Félix Antoine Tshisekedi Tshilombo, President of the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC).

After receiving the Credentials, President Tshisekedi highlighted the potential areas of cooperation between Zambia and the DRC.

President Tshisekedi noted with concern the Kasomeno-Mwenda Road and Bridge Project which had taken time to be worked on. To this end, the President suggested that the contract be given to either a Zambian or Congolese contractor in order for the works to be expedited. Further, the President expressed his desire for the construction of the Kolwezi Road into Zambia with a view to enhance trade between the two countries.

The President also assured the Ambassador of his availability as he carries out his mandate in the DRC.

In response, Ambassador Kosita thanked the President for welcoming him to Kinshasa.

The Ambassador reiterated his desire for all Memoranda of Understanding that have been signed between the two countries to be actualised, among them the Bilateral Cooperation Agreement on the establishment of the joint Zambia-DRC Battery Precursor Initiative to create a competitive Electric Vehicle Battery Value Chain through the production of battery precursors.

Ambassador Kosita further pledged his commitment to work towards opening up the two countries by improving the road and railway transport infrastructure in order to enhance trade between the two countries.
