CHIEF NALUAMA’S CDF FUNDED PALACE SET FOR CONSTRUCTION.

CHIKANKATA- Wednesday, 27th December, 2023.

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development has officially handed over the site for the construction of Chief Naluama’s Palace to the Zambia Correctional Service.

The construction site was handed over to the service by Acting Director, Chief’s Affairs, Mr. James Chileshe, and witnessed by Chikankata Council Chairperson, Mr. Conard Ngoma, District Commissioner, Mr. Timothy Chipolyonga, Council Secretary, Mr. Brian Mazuba and Representative of His Royal Highness, Chief Naluama, Mr. Charles Cheelo.

The District Planning Officer, Mrs. Nakayiwa Mwanza and the Constituency Development Fund (CDFC) Vice Chairperson, Ms . Beatrice Simwami were also present to witness the handover.

Before the handover of the site, the team first paid a courtesy on Chief Naluama to update him of the developments earmarked for his chiefdom.

And Chief Naluama expressed gratitude to government for the developmental plans set for his chiefdom.

The Chief’s palace to be constructed comprise a four bedroomed house for the Chief, two houses for the chief’s retainers, a conference room with and office and water reticulation system.

The construction of the chief’s palace is being funded under CDF, as per presidential directive to allocate One Million Kwacha of the funds towards the construction of chief’s palaces.

The Zambia Correctional Service has since thanked government for the contract to construct some chief’s palaces across the country, noting that it will be an opportunity for the service to enhance its operations.

The service has further assured of excellent results, within the stipulated project time.

Works at the site are scheduled to commence by 8th January, 2024 and are expected to be complete under a period of six months.
