UTH SUCCESSFULLY REMOVES 3KG AMELOBLASTOMA TUMOUR

The University Teaching Hospital (UTH) -Adult has successfully operated an Ameloblastoma Tumor weighing 3 kg. The operation to remove the 3kg tumor that was done on Tuesday 11th June 2024, lasted for 3 hours 30 minutes.

The surgical procedure was carried out by a team of medical specialist led by the lead surgeon Dr. Christopher Kapeshi and seconded by Dr. Mwalimu Kamanga.
Dr. Mwalimu Kamanga described the surgery as a successful, โ€œThis is one of the biggest tumors we have operated on and it was a successโ€

Mr. Hezron Pelama, who lives in Luanshya of 50 years, said that he has lived with the tumour for the past 20 years. He was admitted in the hospital for close to two weeks.

The patient remains admitted at the hospital for observation and further investigations before discharge.
