NALOLO Town Council (NTC) has this week started the process of procuring 2886 desks for distribution to public schools across Nalolo District.
The desks will be procured using part of the 2024 enhanced Constituency Development Fund (CDF).
Nalolo Town Council Secretary Mrs. Monde Shimwanga said the tender document has already been signed.
The move by the local authority to procure desks for all public schools is in line with the Presidential Directive that no child should sit on the floor while attending school.
The new consignment of desks being procured this week is in addition to a total of 6, 720 desks which were earlier distributed to public schools across the district bought using 2022 and 2023 CDF allocation.
The desks were procured in three phases.
In phase one, a total of 1887 desks were procured and distributed while 1947 desks were distributed in the second phase and a total of 2886 were procured in the third phase.
The tenders for the procurement of desks were awarded to various local contractors who supplied and distributed to beneficiary schools across the district.
