Mwape Names 26 Copper Queens for WAFCON Qualifiers

Zambia Women’s National Team coach Bruce Mwape has named his 26-member provisional squad for the 2024 Women’s Africa Cup of Nations (WAFCON) second round back-to-back matches against Angola.

Mwape has a mix of local and foreign based players with the former entering camp on Sunday 19 November to prepare for the first leg due on 29 November 2023 before hosting Angola on 5 December, 2023.

Apart from Kazakhstan-based players whose league ended last month, the other foreign-based players will join camp when the FIFA women’s international window opens on 27 November 2023.

Zambia will be seeking a fourth consecutive appearance at the WAFCON and build on their highest ever podium finish when they won bronze at the expense of Nigeria at the 2022 WAFCON held in Morocco.
