A former junior councilor under the Lusaka City Council (LCC) Junior Council Initiative, Kristine Kasonta has risen through the ranks to become a senior Ward Development Committee (WDC) member and zone leader for Desai B following the elections for WDCs that took place in Kapwepwe Ward 19.
In a statement this morning, LCC Public Relations Manager Chola Mwamba stated that this remarkable achievement showcases the effectiveness of nurturing young leaders and highlights the importance of investing in the next generation of civic governance.
She said Kristine’s journey from junior councilor to zone leader is a testament to her dedication, passion, and growth. Her experience and skills make her an ideal leader to drive positive change in Desai B, an area facing challenges related to substance abuse and crime.
Ms. Mwamba added that with Kristine’s fresh perspective and enthusiasm, she is poised to make a meaningful impact in her community.
The LCC Public Relations Manager said this development underscores the significance of empowering youths to take on leadership positions, equipping them with the skills and knowledge necessary to drive positive change in their communities.
And Ms. Mwamba commended Kapwepwe Ward 29 Councillor Patrick Salubusa for his pivotal role in shaping Kristine’s leadership skills that have made her capable of winning herself a seat as a member of WDC.
Ms. Mwamba said by grooming and empowering youths, Lusaka can build a brighter future for communities and create a sustainable legacy of positive change.
“Lusaka City Council warmly congratulations Kristine and the newly elected zone leaders and WDC members on their appointments. We look forward to their contributions and the impact they will make in their communities.” Ms. Mwamba said
