CHIKANKATA – Chieftainess Mwenda of the Tonga people of Chikankata on New Year’s eve slaughtered a cow in honor of Jacqueline Sabao’s recognition as outstanding lawmaker of 2023.
Speaker of the National Assembly Nelli Mutti recently honored Ms Sabao with the Nellie Mutti award as the most outstanding female MP for the year 2023.
And in recognizing this feat, Chieftainess Mwenda staged an event at which the lawmaker whose constituency cover two chiefdoms and gifted her with a cow in appreciation for her community service to her constituents.
The Chieftainess who showered blessings on the lawmaker said it was a great honor to be recognised among ones peers and urged Ms Sabao to continue working hard in developing Chikankata.
And Chikankata district Zambia National Women’s Lobby Chairperson Lester Mbaza said the awarding of the Nellie Mutti award shows that there is something unique that the Chikankata lawmaker was doing that set her apart from the rest of the female parliamentarians.
And in receiving the accolades, Ms Sabao said she was elated to receive blessings from the traditional leadership and promised to work hard in raising the leadership and developmental bar in the constituency.
Ms Sabao also took time to attend an end of year Church service at the Salvation Army, sharing New Year gifts with local children as well as discussing community projects.
