GOVERNMENT DISPELS A FAKE ALERT OF AN ALLEGED TYPHOID OUTBREAK IN LUSAKA.

GOVERNMENT through the Ministry of Health dispels a fake alert of an alleged Typhoid Outbreak in Lusaka.

In a statement this morning, Ministry of Health Spokesperson Dr Kalangwa Kalangwa said this follows a thorough investigation and review of surveillance and laboratory trends, an exercise that has since dispelled a purported typhoid epidemic in the District.

Dr. Kalangwa noted that the Ministry of Health through its disease intelligence and surveillance system remains alert to any public health threat.
He said these systems are designed to promptly detect any infectious diseases including Typhoid, ensuring quick response measures are implemented.

Dr. Kalangwa stated that the multisectoral public health teams are constantly implementing Public Health measures, including water quality monitoring, sanitation efforts, and vaccination programs.

He said these efforts are crucial in preventing the spread of typhoid and other waterborne diseases.

And the Ministry of Health Spokesperson urged the public to refrain from spreading unverified information that can cause unnecessary panic.
