Government through Zimba Town Council has commissioned three major CDF community projects and disbursed over one million kwacha grant to 75 women clubs and youth cooperatives in Mapatizya constituency.

Area member of Parliament Emeldah Munashabantu Nkhata graced the ceremonies held at the civic centre for the grader,Zimba Secondary School for the water borehole and at Ngolongozya river for the bridge.

Mrs.Nkhata says the CDF projects being undertaken in the Constituency,is a testimony of how the new dawn government is planning to transform rural constituencies that have been lagging behind in terms of development.

The lawmaker says Ngolongozya bridge has been a death trap to the people of Mapatizya Constituency before the new dawn government rehabilitated it, because lives were lost while transporting agriculture products to the urban side of the district.

Mrs Nkhata says the construction of Ngolongozya bridge was successful because the government understands the economic and social value that it holds to Zimba district particularly the farming community.

The lawmaker commended the government for addressing the water challenges at Zimba Secondary School using the disaster component of the Constituency Development Fund where pupils moved out of school boundaries to draw water in nearby compounds for the last four months.

And Mapatizya Constituency Development Fund committee Chairperson Joe Bbumelo says the construction of Ngolongozya bridge has shortened the distance from Zimba Town to the furthest side of Mapatizya.

He called for patience among the citizens as the government is determined to respond to all the challenges submitted to the council through the ward development committees.

Meanwhile,Zimba Council Deputy Chairperson says the constituency development Fund Committee has allocated some funds to procure more earth moving equipment to support the grader and work on improving feeders roads in the district.

He explained that the local authority has already started identifying feeder roads that are in a bad state to be worked on using the procured motor grader at the Council.

The construction of Ngolongozya bridge was done at an amount of K2 ,696,181.06 through the 2022 allocation ,the industrial borehole was drilled at a cost of K 490,000 using the disaster component, the motor grader procured at K6.4 million under 2022 and 2023 allocation while the grants given to 75 women clubs and youth cooperatives amounts to K1,164,154.39 grants allocation of the 2024.

The three ceremonies were attended by various heads of government departments, councilors, Church leaders, traditional leaders and UPND senior leadership.
