HEALTH Minister SYLVIA MASEBO says Chongwe district is earmarked for the construction of a modern market with all the latest fittings.
Speaking during the ground breaking ceremony , Ms MASEBO says government is committed to creating an enabling environment for marketeers to carry out trade.
She said Chongwe local authority received funding through the Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development to construct a modern market.
Ms MASEBO said the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) will meet the required deficit for the project’s completion.
And speaking through the representative, Senior Chieftainess Nkomeshya Mukamambo II has welcomed the development noting that it will provide traders with the conducive environment.
Her Royal Highness Dr. Senior Chieftainess Nkomeshya Mukamambo II has also advised marketeers to avoid trading along the Great East Road for personal safety.
The Busoli Royal Establishment (BRE) has further called on subjects to support the construction project.
The market will be constructed by the Zambia National Service (ZNS) and is scheduled to be completed before the end of this year.
