CHIRUNDU CONSTITUENCY ALLOCATES MORE THAN 9 MILLION TOWARDS SKILLS DEVELOPMENT

Chirundu District, July 8th 2024.

Government has so far sponsored more than 900 students under its skills development policy financially supported by the Constituency Development Fund (CDF).

The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development through Chirundu Town Council (CTC) allocated K2, 537, 877 towards 344 students in 20022 and allocated K7,085, 743 towards sponsoring 632 students.

The Government remains committed towards bettering the lives of citizens and formulated policies in the education sector that deliberately focus to impart skills. The development of skills is a crucial part of survival and will help beneficiaries come up with sustainable sources of income.

Meanwhile, Government has invested a sum of K446,355 towards sponsoring 85 pupils under the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) under secondary bursary. The Ministry of Local Government and Rural Development approved the sponsorship of 38 pupils in 2022 amounting to K118,800 while 47 pupils were sponsored under the 2023 CDF allocation for secondary school bursary.

The deliberate policy of free education the Government has put in place is tallying with the infrastructure development under the Constituency Development Fund which has seen a number of schools being expanded.

The Government remains committed to ensuring the provision of education is standard. The local authority would like to encourage others to take advantage of the deliberate policies the Government has put in place aimed at reaching marginalized children especially those in the rural community.
