LCC HANDS OVER 1×3 CLASSROOM BLOCK AT YOTAM MULEYA PRIMARY SCHOOL

Minister of Education Douglas Syakalima has called on schools to allocate land for infrastructure development within their respective jurisdictions.

Speaking through Mr. Mwale, the Director of Primary Education, during the inauguration of a One By Three Classroom Block at Yotam Muleya Primary School in Matero, Hon. Siakalima stated that funds are readily available for such projects.

Hon. Siakalima said the government has intentionally increased the Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocation from K28.3 million to K30.6 million per constituency, specifically to address classroom challenges in schools.

Hon. Siakalima also commended Matero Member of Parliament, Miles Sampa, for effectively utilizing CDF to address desks and classroom issues in his constituency.

The Minister urged both school management and pupils to diligently safeguard the newly constructed infrastructure to ensure its longevity.

Meanwhile, Matero Member of Parliament Hon. Sampa highlighted the importance of education and the need to address classroom space shortages resulting from the implementation of free education policies.

He assured constituents that formidable infrastructure projects, including classroom blocks, are underway in the constituency.

Hon. Sampa encouraged pupils to take their education seriously, emphasizing that it is crucial for achieving their aspirations.

Additionally, Lusaka District Commissioner, Rosa Zulu, praised the government’s commitment to prioritising education.

She acknowledged the surge in student enrollment due to free education and assured that the government would continue hiring more teachers and enhancing educational quality.

District Education Board Secretary, Ian Miyoba, reiterated the government’s unwavering support for school infrastructure and desks.

Mr. Miyoba said the focus remains on providing conducive learning environments for all students.

The Classroom Block was constructed at a total cost of One million, two hundred and sixty-six thousand, eight hundred and forty-seven Kwacha, sixty-three ngwee (K1,266,847.63) and was funded from the 2022 Constituency Development Fund (CDF) allocation for Matero Constituency.
