Government approves Kambwili’s evacuation.

PRESIDENT Hakainde Hichilema has directed the Ministry of Health to evacuate Patriotic Front (PF) member of the central committee Chishimba Kambwili for specialised treatment abroad.

Minister of Health Sylvia Masebo said yesterday that when President Hakainde Hichilema was informed of Mr Kambwili’s health condition about 10 days ago, he directed that the politician be evacuated abroad in the same manner that others before him have been evacuated for specialised treatment.

“Yes, I can confirm that the President did give an instruction that we evacuate Mr Kambwili for specialised treatment. But because I have been here [National Heroes Stadium Cholera Centre] this whole week, I have really not followed up to know exactly which day he is travelling and which country he is going to for specialised treatment. I have to get those details,” Ms Masebo said in an interview yesterday.

And Mr Kambwili has thanked President Hichilema and the United Party for National Development (UPND) administration for exhibiting brotherhood by approving his evacuation to India or South Africa to receive the necessary specialised medical attention.

Mr Kambwili, whose health has been failing, said in a telephone interview yesterday that his sugar levels and blood pressure have been surging for some time and that specialised medical treatment was probably what he needs.
