The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has awarded Mcanam Electrical and Construction Company a K989,746.80 contract, funded by the 2024 Constituency Development Fund, for paving Master Lu Road in Kanyama’s Munkolo Ward.
Speaking at the site handover event, Munkolo ward chairman Mr. Likukela thanked the Kanyama Constituency Development Fund Committee-CDFC for working towards ensuring that priority projects as suggested by the people of Munkolo see the light of day.
Mr. Likukela expressed happiness that once complete, the paving of the road whose stretch is from Master Lu junction through to Nsanje Road junction will help bringing to an end the misery of flooding, a problem described as common in Kanyama Constituency.
“I am very pleased with our CDFC and the council for the commendable work being done using CDF- The paving of this road here is very important because it will not only help reduce flooding but save as a safe access passage for patients wishing to seek medical attention at the near-by clinic, this for me is what I call real Development and the promotion of access to social services” Said Mr. Likukela.
The visibly elated Munkolo ward chairman has since pledged total support towards the construction but maintenance of all infrastructure being built as he believes that the community have a role to play in ensuring that public infrastructure is preserved for a lengthy lifespan.
Speaking at the same event, Mcanam Electrical and Construction member Sara Kaira indicated that her company is passionate about uplifting the lives of the locals as she pledged to work towards utilizing local labour on the project.
Ms. Kaira has since disclosed that the 800-meter road pavement works on Master Lu Road will be complete in under just under three (3) months.
