LUSAKA RESIDENTS ASSURED OF SAFETY IN THE ONGOING LARVICIDING EXERCISE

The Lusaka City Council (LCC) has assured the public that the chemical used in the ongoing larviciding exercise is safe, as it specifically targets mosquito larvae.

LCC Director of Public Health, Mr. Victor Kagoli, emphasizes that even those with fish ponds do not need to worry as the chemical poses no risk to their fish.

Mr. Kagoli says the council in collaboration with the Ministry of Health, has already larvicided garden ponds, Chingwere and Chamba valley.

He explains that this exercise does not only prevent malaria but also helps prevent other diseases, making public support crucial.

He added that the larviciding exercise will continue in all affected areas within the city.

Mr. Kagoli encourages Lusaka residents to promptly report any additional areas requiring larviciding for swift action by the local authority.

“We are determined and fully prepared to larvicide all affected mosquito breeding sites in the city,” he asserts.

He states that by conducting this exercise, the council aims to curb the spread of malaria and other diseases, ensuring the safety and well-being of Lusaka residents.
