Lusaka Mayor , Ms Chilando Chitangala has commended Stanbic Bank for donating cleaning tools worth One Hundred and Forty Thousand Kwacha (K140, 000) towards the re-launched Keep Zambia Clean, Green and Healthy campaign.
Speaking during The Keep Zambia Clean, Green and Healthy Campaign held in collaboration with Stanbic Bank at the freedom statue today, the Mayor said that the re-launched Keep Zambia Clean, Green and Healthy campaign places an urgent call to Action for stakeholder collaboration in keeping Lusaka and the entire nation Clean particularly, trading areas as these spaces are not only key breeding points for disease but a vital component for trade.
Ms. Chitangala commended Stanbic Bank for placing priority in the dream to have Clean cities as can be seen from their consistent involvement in Clean up campaigns in Ndola, Lusaka and Chipata dating as far back as 2022.
“As Council, we have scaled up efforts in ensuring that our city is clean and habitable for us to live and thrive but truth be told, this big and necessary dream can only be made possible through a multi-sectoral approach and as Lusaka Mayor, I am beyond proud that Stanbic is thinking beyond just cashing in, this Bank has been very consistent in their resolve for a clean Lusaka and I am glad that we are partnering on this initiative,” Explained Ms.Chitangala.
The Lusaka Mayor used the platform to echoed the Council’s desire to facilitate for increased trade volumes in and around the city, citing this ambitious goal as a fundamental driver for improved livelihoods for Lusaka Residents.
And Kamwala ward Councillor, Mainda Simataa has called for the prioritisation in the clearing of regular historical waste and maintaining drainages ahead of the rainy season.
Councillor Simaata has since called for concerted efforts in the successful implementation of the re-launched Keep Zambia Clean, Green and Healthy Campaign, adding that maintaining a clean environment is not a preserve of the local authority alone.
Meanwhile, Stanbic Bank Chief Financial Officer, Mizimo Musokotwane has pledged Stanbic Bank’s resolve to align their social corporate responsibility to actitivities that help in uplifting the livelihoods of the ordinary citizenry.
Ms. Musokwatane has since thanked the Local Authority for partnering with the bank in Keeping Lusaka City Clean.
