Chililabombwe Municipal Council has opened 400 metres of roads paved within Central Business District (CBD) using locally generated funds.
Speaking during the ceremony His Worship the Mayor Mr. Lucky Sichone said the local authority embarked on this exercise as they await central government to construct township roads.
” We saw it fit that we start paving CBD roads and we thank the Head of state for his positive response to work on Township roads,” he said.
Meanwhile Chililabombwe District Commissioner Ms Precious Njekwa recommended the Local Authority for the initiative to pave CBD roads stating that she is also happy that His Excellency the Republican President of Zambia Mr Hakainde Hichilema promised to work on Township roads in Chililabombwe.
And Mumba Ward Councillor Mr. Walubita Mwangala added that it was a delight to see such a development within CBD as it will add to the beauty of the district.
Chililabombwe Town Clerk Mrs Shilla Songolo reiterated that the Council saw it fit to uplift CBD roads that were in a bad state in a more sustainable manner.
She added that a total of 1.5 million Kwacha has been allocated for road maintenance and the works continues.
We are happy that the project is doing well and we will have a more deserving CBD,” she saids.
